A home Dragonwilds server needs reliable UDP port forwarding, a reserved local IP, stable uptime, and a wired connection more than “gaming router” branding. Jagex uses UDP port 7777 by default and currently supports up to six players.
Budget: TP-Link Archer AX21
A practical Wi-Fi 6 router with gigabit ethernet, port forwarding, address reservation, and basic traffic management. It is sufficient when the server is wired and the internet connection is stable.
Faster home network: ASUS RT-BE86U
Useful for faster-than-gigabit internet, several home services, or a server that remains online continuously. Dragonwilds itself does not require Wi-Fi 7; the value is wired capacity and network headroom.
Large network: ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro
This is excessive for most six-player worlds. Consider it only when the same router handles a large, demanding household or several hosted services.
Wire the server
A Cat 6 ethernet cable is normally the most useful network purchase. Connect the host directly to the router or a wired switch.

When a cable run is impossible, powerline can be more consistent than distant Wi-Fi, but results depend on the building's electrical wiring.

Protect uptime
A small UPS can keep the modem, router, and a modest server running through short outages or provide time for a clean shutdown.
Expose only the required UDP port, keep the host updated, use strong server passwords, and maintain off-machine save backups.
