All Dragonkin Vault Locations — Dragonwilds

Find all 13 live Dragonkin Vaults in RuneScape: Dragonwilds by region, understand their power tiers, and farm Vault Shards, Cores, and recipes.

Last updated: 2026-08-27

Dragonkin Vaults are instanced dungeons spread across Ashenfall. They combine guardians, traps, traversal puzzles, and reward chests containing progression recipes and the Vault Shards and Vault Cores needed for important stations and equipment.

Version 0.12.1 contains 13 live vaults: the ten charted through Brynmoor, Ghornfell, Fellhollow, and Dowdun Reach, plus three added with Umbral Sands. This guide keeps the desert vaults at regional level because reward data and community naming can change; the in-game map and Journal remain authoritative.

Power levels in the table reflect community-maintained live data, not a promise that every character at that number is ready. Bring equipment appropriate to the region and at least two damage options because some guardians resist a favoured style.

Brynmoor vault locations

Crasorak Kara — Temple Woods

Search the Temple Woods during the early quest route. This is one of the first practical introductions to vault guardians and trap timing. Use it to learn how reward rooms, Cores, and blueprint unlocks work before entering higher-tier dungeons.

Thishepen Kara — Bramblemead Valley

The Bramblemead vault sits within the opening region's broader ruin route. Activate nearby fast travel and bring a full early set rather than treating the familiar biome as proof that the interior is harmless.

Vertentis Kara — Whispering Swamp

The swamp vault is tied closely to the Dragon Slayer route and blue-flame objective. Pack Antipoison for the journey even if the interior loadout focuses on direct combat. It is also associated with important defensive progression, including the Anti-Dragon Shield recipe path.

Ghornfell vault locations

Takla Kara — Fractured Plains

This vault represents the move into stronger regional encounters. Bring dependable Iron-era equipment, food, and a ranged answer for guardians that make melee approaches awkward.

Skeklac Kara — Fractured Plains

Skeklac Kara is the higher-power Fractured Plains vault. Clear it after the build handles ordinary Ghornfell enemies without draining the full supply bag.

Kletterbuja Kara — Bloodblight Swamp

Approach through Bloodblight with poison preparation and activate the closest safe route first. The environment can consume supplies before the dungeon begins, so separate travel food from the resources reserved for the vault.

Chaktan Kara — Stormtouched Highlands

The highland vault adds dangerous travel and a stronger interior. Repair before climbing into the region and leave inventory space for reward items rather than filling every slot with ore or hides on the way.

Fellhollow vault locations

Kalistrakthen Kara — Emberwood

This power-level 5 vault belongs to Fellhollow's Steel, Green Dragonhide, and Splitbark progression. Prepare for undead and spectral-region mechanics, and keep a nearby cleansing and recovery plan.

Skekven Kara — Lake of Lost Souls

Search the Lake of Lost Souls with the region's visibility and Wither pressure in mind. Clear surrounding enemies before entering so the return path remains usable after the dungeon.

Vekchenven Kara — Lake of Lost Souls

The second Lake of Lost Souls vault rounds out the live pre-Dowdun set. Treat its reward room as progression content, not a disposable material run, and record any recipe unlock before spending the associated Cores.

Umbral Sands vault locations

Jagex added three vaults with update 0.12.0. They are distributed through Umbral Sands alongside Kalphites, KotHaar, Garou ruins, Sunscorch, and quicksand hazards.

Use the in-game map to mark each discovered entrance and approach during safer daylight conditions where possible. Carry water, shelter materials or shade access, and a Magic Carpet or other traversal option for the route. Desert survival supplies are separate from the healing, ammunition, and runes required inside.

Because desert vault labels and complete loot tables are still less consistently documented than the first ten, this page avoids presenting speculative names as settled fact. The live map pin, entrance prompt, and Journal entry should decide which vault you have found.

How to prepare for any vault

  1. Match armour and weapon power to the current region.
  2. Carry two damage types for resistant guardians.
  3. Repair all equipment before entering the instance.
  4. Bring food, water, ammunition, runes, and Wardstones.
  5. Clear the entrance area so retreat remains possible.
  6. Activate the closest Lodestone or Nodestone.
  7. Leave inventory space for recipes, Cores, and Shards.
  8. Complete puzzle mechanisms before leaving the session.

Some historical versions had lever-state problems when players left certain vaults mid-puzzle. Jagex documented this during 0.9. Even when that exact issue is fixed, completing a mechanism in one visit remains the least confusing route.

Vault Shards and Vault Cores

Vault guardians and reward chests are the primary route to Vault Shards and Vault Cores. These materials support major crafting stations and later specialised recipes, so early Cores should be treated as progression currency.

Before spending them:

  • check the next workstation in crafting progression;
  • reserve materials required by the active quest;
  • compare a permanent station unlock with a replaceable weapon;
  • mark completed vaults so repeat farming is deliberate.

For other material routes, use the resource locations guide or search the Resource Finder.

Co-op vault checklist

Keep the party close enough that doors and encounters update predictably. Confirm that every player has collected character-specific quest interactions before leaving the reward room. One player should carry spare healing, but everyone needs an independent combat supply.

If the group wipes, regroup outside instead of re-entering one at a time. Vault guardians punish isolated recovery attempts, and repeated tombstone runs can cost more than rebuilding a basic backup kit.
